I provide piano services for all makes and models of grand and upright pianos. I look forward to working with you to service and maintain your piano, so that you may better enjoy making the music you love. Here are the services I offer:
Pianos go out of tune for many reasons, including use, humidity changes, and the passage of time. Depending on your piano's condition, I can tune it to A=440 Hertz or to another pitch that it could support. Typically, I tune to equal temperament, but I could also tune to a historical temperament.
Manufacturers build pianos to sound best at or near a pitch that corresponds to about 440 Hertz (440 cycles per second) for note A4 (the A just above middle C) on your piano keyboard. If your piano is significantly sharp or flat of 440, I can assess it for a possible pitch correction to get back to 440 Hertz.
Pianos have more than 10,000 parts! Think of regulation as important maintenance for your piano, much like your car needs a brake job, tire rotation, and new antifreeze. Piano regulation involves adjusting the moving parts to optimize your instrument's sound, touch, and performance.
You might like to adjust the tone of your piano. Perhaps you would like a brighter or a more mellow tone. Over time, many piano hammers develop grooves from striking the strings, resulting in an excessively bright sound. I can work on your piano to help you achieve the tone you would like to hear.
Your piano might suffer from a broken hammer, a sticky key, a squeaky pedal, a broken string, a loose screw, or any number of other ailments. I would be happy to visit your piano and determine how I could best provide a solution so that you may return to playing the music you love.
Seasonal variation in relative humidity causes a piano to go out of tune and deteriorates the soundboard and other parts over time. I am a certified installer of Piano Life Saver (Dampp-Chaser) systems, which help to maintain a more consistent relative humidity microclimate for your piano year-round.
Over years, pianos accumulate dust and debris on the soundboard and in the mechanical parts that connect the keys to the hammers. Your piano's moving parts gradually shed bits of wool, leather, and other materials. I can clean and vacuum the soundboard and action, and clean the piano case.
